Quick Movie Review: Eagle Eye

5/10

Let me do the Novelisation of this film for you now.

Whine... moan.. whine...

BOOOM!!! BOOM!!! BANG!!!!! SMASH!!!! BOOM!!!! SCREEEEECH!!!!

Run! Run! Run!

BOOM! BOOM! KABOOM!

(isn't that the field with pylons in it from Se7en?)

NEEEEEEOOOOOOOOWWWWWW!!!!! SCREEEEEECH....

BOOM!

BANG!

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

With that out of the way, I'll just say that this movie has a lot of bang and flash, and is an amusing movie of the sort that twenty years ago would star Bruce Willis, but has a couple of ridiculous ideas, a villain with all the credibility of a cheese toastie and an oddly quaint paranoid world view.

It made me giggle and was fun, in the same way anything with massive bangs and whooshes is, but there is nothing even approaching depth. Probably qualifies for a look if you're not paying much for it.

  1. Mmmmm.. Cheese toasties.

Might give this one a miss I think, unless it comes on Sky. Hoping to see the new Harry Potter in the next day or so. Read varying reports about it. I'll take my chances.

Good to see you back in the reviewing business

  4. Just saw "Eagle Eye" on Sky and I must say your review hardly does it justice. There was waaaaay more boooooooooom, screeeeeeeeeech, Boom! Bang! Smash! than you mentioned, and a good deal less Zzzzzzzzzzzzz. Although - to be fair it was everything else you mentioned and - just to indicate that your 5/10 rating was apt - it had plot holes so big you could drive the proverbial bus through them (I think a bus was the only thing they didn't crash or destroy wasn't it?) Why go to the trouble of sending them all the way to Indianapolis to hijack a serum to slow their heart beat for the unpressurised plane flight when alcohol or any number of prescription medicines would have done the same?

Funny how Aria sounded like Julianne Moore wasn't it?
